BROUGH JOINS CANES ON LOAN

Son of Super League stalwart joins from Leigh

We are pleased to confirm that we have signed young back Will Brough on loan from Super League side Leigh Leopards until the end of the 2025 season.

Will is the son of former Super League stalwart Danny Brough who amassed just under 550 career appearances for the likes of Huddersfield, Castleford, Wakefield and Hull FC over 20 seasons, as well as a couple of dozen international appearances for England and Scotland.

Whilst his son is at the start of his rugby league career, his pedigree and ability initially attracted the attention of Wakefield Trinity, where he played multiple seasons in their Academy and Reserve sides. Following his deal with Wakefield ending in November 2024, he was picked up by Leigh Leopards on a 12-month deal. He made his debut for the Leopards during the 2025 pre-season in Toby King’s testimonial friendly against Warrington Wolves and unfortunately suffered a dislocated shoulder that saw him spend several months on the sidelines, however Will is now fighting fit and ready to hit the ground running in League One as we reach the business end of the 2025 season.

CanesTV spoke with Head Coach Mark Dunning about the decision to bring Will to the Canes on loan, who said:

“We are delighted to welcome Will and his family to the club and the Canes family. I want to thank Leigh for allowing us to take Will for the rest of the season and Craig Harrison for helping to get this over the line.

Will is a quality player who will add a lot to our attacking play, and we are looking forward to working with him and seeing him progress with us.”

Will also spoke with CanesTV regarding his loan move to Midlands:

“I’m buzzing to be on loan with Midlands and get some games and hopefully wins under my belt. I’ve been enjoying meeting and training with the lads over the last couple of weeks and I’m hoping we can produce a strong bond as one.”

Will could make his professional debut this Sunday as he goes straight into contention for Head Coach Mark Dunning’s 21-man squad to take on Whitehaven this Sunday.
