YOUNG WIGAN TRIO ARRIVE ON LOAN

Beardsworth, Irwin and Higham join the Canes

We are pleased to confirm that we have signed Finley Beardsworth, Finlay Irwin and Harry Higham on loan from our dual-registration partners Wigan Warriors until the end of the 2024 season.

Finley will be no stranger to the Hurricanes, having played on loan four times for the Canes last season and scoring a try during our home defeat to Hunslet. Whilst primarily featuring for Wigan's reserves this season, he has also played on loan this season for Championship outfit Barrow Raiders.

Fin Irwin stands to make his professional debut if he puts on a Cane shirt, having featured regularly in Wigan's reserve-line up following two years in the Warrington Wolves academy. Harry Higham, the son of former England and Great Britain star hooker Micky Higham, also stands to make his professional debut having played alongside Finley and Finlay in the Warriors reserves for the past two seasons.

Shane Eccles, Head of Youth at Wigan Warriors, had this to say on the trio signing for the Canes:

This is a great opportunity for three of our players to gain some valuable experience playing in League One with one of our partner clubs in the Midlands Hurricanes. Harry, Finley and Finlay have all played vital parts in our reserves for the last two seasons and we see this as a natural progression in the lads careers to develop playing in a competitive league against experienced players. We also want to thank the Midlands for giving the players this opportunity and helping them in their development."

All three will go straight into contention for Mark Dunning's 21-man squad against Oldham this Sunday.
