OAKES SIGNS TWO-YEAR EXTENSION

Former Bradford and Sheffield centre signs until 2026

We are pleased to confirm that we Ross Oakes has signed a two-year extension to his contract that will see him remain at The Alex until at least the end of the 2026 season.

Ross made his debut with the Hurricanes on dual-registration from Sheffield Eagles, scoring a try in our famous 41-10 victory over Doncaster at the back end of the 2023 season. Ross then signed with the club permanently for the 2024 season and has gone on to score four tries in 13 games before injuries put an end to his season.

Ross on re-signing with the Canes:

I’m really excited to be here for the next two years. There’s a real feeling of building something special here and I’m looking forward to being a part of that. Injuries aside, I’ve enjoyed my first year at the Canes and will be ready to hit the ground running in the new year and see what we can do!

Head Coach Mark Dunning on retaining Ross:

We’re delighted that Ross has put pen to paper on a two-year extension to his stay at the Alex.

Ross has shown this year his undoubted ability and there is lots more to come from him too. Although he’s still a young man is one of our senior leaders within the group and his experience is invaluable. Unfortunately we have lost Ross for the rest of this season after a pectoral tear at Keighley, but he’s recovering well from his surgery and looking forward to being back in training soon with the boys.

We have more re-signings confirmed for the 2025 season, so watch this space for more news!
