MORRIS DANCES HIS WAY TO MIDLANDS FOR 2025

Experienced Championship prop joins Midlands

We are delighted to confirm we have signed experienced prop Elliot Morris following the expiry of his contract with Dewsbury Rams.

Morris, 28, first joined Championship outfit Halifax Panthers in 2016 and made his way from initially playing for their reserves to debuting off the bench during Fax’s 78-0 demolition of National Conference League side Pilkington Recs in the Challenge Cup. This performance earned him another five appearances during his debut season and a regular interchange spot on the Fax bench, as he made 109 appearances between 2016 and 2022 and scored 11 tries.

Having initially joined Dewsbury Rams on loan from Halifax mid-way through the 2022 season, Elliot joined the Rams permanently on a two-year contract in 2023 where he made 48 appearances, scoring once, featuring regularly during their League One winning season last year and again during their Championship campaign in 2024. With over 150 appearances to his name, the vast majority of these at Championship level, we are very excited to see what he can do in a Midlands shirt for 2025.

Elliot on signing with the Canes:

I’m excited to get stuck in with the Canes for next season. After speaking with Mark and hearing about the club's plans and goals for the season, as well as telling me where the club wants to go, signing up was a no brainer for me.

Head Coach Mark Dunning on signing Elliot:

We’re delighted to welcome Elliot and his family to the club and the Canes family.

Elliot has been a quality middle for a number of years in the Championship and brings with him a wealth of experience and ability.  He will add some leg speed and some physicality to our middle unit which will compliment our existing squad nicely.

Morris joins Ryan Johnson, Zeus Silk and Aiden Roden as new signings for the 2025 season, but we are far from done. Keep an eye out on our socials for more signing news!
