HOBSON ON BOARD FOR NEXT SEASON

Young loose forward Hobson commits to the Canes for 2025

We are pleased to confirm that utility forward Ellis Hobson has signed an extension to his contract with the Canes that will keep him at The Alexander Stadium for next year.

Ellis, whose competitive experience before signing was with the academy and reserve teams at dual-registration partners Wigan Warriors, was another one of Mark Dunning’s first signings after joining the Canes mid-way through the 2023 season. Ellis made his debut at the Canes “on the road” first against Hunslet in Derby and has gone on to make 20 appearances for the club, however he still awaits that elusive first professional try which we know is just around the corner!

Ellis on re-signing with the club:

I’m delighted to have another year with the Hurricanes. We’ve made club history this year but we know it’s only the tip of the iceberg. This playing group has something special and it’s something I want to be part of in the coming season.

The welcoming culture and family orientated atmosphere makes staying an easy decision.

Up the Canes!

Head Coach Mark Dunning on retaining Hobson:
We’re delighted to retain Ellis to the Hurricanes family for at least another year. Ellis has shown some maturity with a number of very good performances throughout the year and as one of our young blokes will only keep getting better moving forwards.

We look forward to seeing what more is to come from him in the future.

Ellis is far from the last of our confirmed retentions for next season, so keep your eyes peeled for more announcements in the coming weeks!
