TOM WILKINSON #DARESTODREAM FOR 2025
2024 Supporters’ Player of the Year signs 12-month contract extension
We are delighted to confirm that Tom Wilkinson has signed a new contract with the club that will see him in a Canes shirt for the 2025 season.
Wilko, 21, first jointed the club on loan at the back end of the 2022 season from Hull Kingston Rovers, following a short loan spell with then Championship outfit Workington Town. He had a great start to the club, scoring three tries in five games but eventually decided to sign with Dewsbury Rams for the 2023 season. After making a couple of appearances with the Rams he re-signed with the Canes in June 2023 and went on to make nine appearances as Mark Dunning took over as Head Coach of the club, scoring one try (and kicking one memorable drop-goal during our 41-10 demolition of Doncaster).
Tom clearly enjoyed his second stint with the club and decided to re-sign for 2024 where he has gone on to have a bumper season, scoring an impressive 12 tries in 22 games whilst at second row and earning the plaudits of the Hurricanes faithful as shown by his win at the End of Season Awards.
We are really excited to see what Tom can do in a Canes shirt next season.
Wilko on re-signing with the Canes:
“I’m excited to have signed for another year - the club is going in the right direction and I’m looking forward to being a part of it.
Hopefully we can go all the way in the playoffs this year and kick on for a big year next season.”
Head Coach Mark Dunning on keeping Wilko for 2025:
“We’re delighted that Tom has committed his future to the club.
He’s a talented young man who continues to improve and we’re excited to work with him again and continue his development.
He is at the stage now of transition from being a baby of the group to an established first team player and, should he continue to work hard, he has the potential to be a quality Canes player for years to come.”
Make sure you’re at The Alex on Sunday to potentially see Wilko in action as we take on Workington Town in the Betfred League One Elimination Playoff.
