NAKORONIVALU AND VARO LEAVE THE CANES

Fijian duo depart the Canes after one season

Due to ongoing work commitments with the Army, we can confirm that wingers Inoke Nakoronivalu and Joeli Varo have left the club.

Both Naks and Joe joined the Canes at the start of the 2024 season on the back of the club’s strong relationship with the Army, along with Peceli Suguvanua and Wame Ratubalavu. Both wingers made an immediate impact on their debut against Sheffield Eagles in the 1895 Cup, with Naks weaving through the Eagles defence for our first try before Joe intercepted a Sheffield pass before racing away 80 metres to score down the left edge.

Inoke went on to make a further four appearances for the Canes, scoring a second try during his league debut against Rochdale Hornets, with his last appearance coming during our 32-0 loss to League winners Oldham at Boundary Park. Varo made three more appearances for the club last season, with his last coming during our 18-6 victory over Cornwall at The Memorial Ground.

Everybody at the Midlands Hurricanes would like to thank Naks and Joe for their efforts last season and wish them all the best going forward with their careers in the Army.
