KIERAN MORAN EXTENDS

Scottish international pens 12-month extension

We are pleased to confirm that seasoned prop Kieran Moran has signed an extension to his contract until the end of the 2025 season.

Moran, 27, has over 100 professional appearances at Super League, Championship and League One level as well as having been selected for the Scotland squad in the 2016 Four Nations and the 2017 World Cup, before going on to make five appearances for the Bravehearts between 2018-2021. Starting his career at Hull Kingston Rovers, he has also had stints at Sheffield Eagles, Keighley Cougars and Hunslet (with loan spells at Newcastle Thunder, York Knights and Hemel Stags).

Kieran first joined the club on loan from Keighley Cougars at the beginning of the 2020 season where he went on to make two appearances before COVID-19 curtailed the season. Following the expiry of his contract with Hunslet at the end of the 2022 season Kieran joined the Canes and went on to make 18 appearances, scoring one try during our 66-18 Challenge Cup defeat to then-Head Coach Mark Dunning’s Bradford Bulls at Odsal. Mark was clearly impressed by what he saw as Kieran as the parties agreed an initial extension until the end of this season, which has seen Kieran go on to make a further [13] appearances and score a try during our 70-16 win over Newcastle in Round 2.

Kieran on extending his stay with the Canes:

I'm really happy to have signed for another year so we can keep building on the progress we have made and continuing the journey to get where we want to be. We have got a great set of lads and staff at the club who are all on the same page and enjoy the time we spend together, which speaks volumes.

I'm looking forward what we can achieve together in 2025!

Head Coach Mark Dunning on retaining Kieran:

We’re really happy to retain Kieran within the Hurricanes squad and family.

Kieran has worked hard this year to rediscover the form that saw him gain international recognition not that long ago. Kieran brings a point of difference to our team and, after sitting down with myself and Leigh, now understands fully what we’re looking for from him and what he needs to do to achieve his undoubted potential.

This contract extension is recognition of that hard work and we look forward to continuing that in the 2025 pre-season.

As Mark let slip on the Rugby League Outsiders podcast, we have made some significant progress in retaining and recruiting talent for the 2025 season. Keep your eyes peeled for more updates!
