Hurricanes sign Marcus Green!

We are delighted to confirm the signing of young prop Marcus Green for the 2024 season.

With 19 appearances to his name across the Championship and League 1, Hurricanes fans may remember Marcus from his brief stint on loan with the club in 2022 where he made three appearances (including his professional debut after just turning 19 year) from the bench in our 60-14 and 50-28 wins over Cornwall and London Skolars, as well as our narrow 22-18 away loss to North Wales Crusaders. His performances in Canes colours earned him a handful of appearances in the Bradford Bulls first team in the Championship, as well as a brief stint on loan with Cornwall later that season.

Marcus continued his development with Bradford in 2023, competing in their 62-6 win over York Acorn in the Challenge Cup before making 10 appearances on loan for Hunslet in the second half of the League 1 season. The now 20-year old has linked up with his former gaffer for the 2024 season and we're excited to see him perform in our trademark purple this year!

Marcus on joining the Canes for 2024:

"I love the feel around the club. I've known Leigh and Mark a long time and from the conversations I've had with them this feels like a great opportunity to build on a big thing here. The club has changed considerably since I was here in 2022 and the squad looks the best its ever been.

I had some opportunity to gain experience playing in League 1 last year but I'm really keen to build on that with the Canes in 2024."

Head Coach Mark Dunning on acquiring Marcus for 2024:

" I know a lot about Marcus, I’ve coached him since he was 14 years old and he has always been a top lad. As soon as I knew he was available I wanted to bring him here and I believe he will bring a lot to the club. He will slot straight back in here with some familiar faces from when he was on dual registration a couple of years ago and that will help but he is a great addition for us.”
