BRAD'S BACK!

German international returns to The Alex on short-team deal

We are pleased to confirm the return of former Whitehaven, Swinton and North Wales Crusaders half-back Brad Billsborough on a deal until the end of the 2025 season.

Brad, 26, initially joined the Canes on a one-year deal at the start of the 2025 season and found himself regularly featuring in the halves following an early injury to Callum McLelland. He featured in both of our 1895 Cup Group Stage games against Doncaster and Sheffield Eagles, before going on to feature in our first Betfred League One games against Rochdale, Newcastle Thunder and North Wales Crusaders (scoring a try in each of the last two). His final appearance came during our historic 16-26 away victory to Workington Town in early May, where he unfortunately suffered a season-ending injury whilst playing as back-up hooker to Danny Barcoe.

Whilst he left the Canes at the end of the season to focus on recovering from surgery and rehab, Brad has now had the time and space to fully recover to get himself back into contention. Fully aware of the risk of being rusty following a lengthy spell on the sidelines, Brad has been getting himself back into match fitness by playing in the community game and regularly training with St Helens reserve squad.

Speaking with CanesTV, Head Coach Mark Dunning told us:

“It’s great to welcome Brad back to the club.

We have stayed in touch whilst Brad has been recovering and rehabbing his injury. His return to the fold comes at a crucial time as it gives us a boost in a position that we have been hampered in through injury throughout the season.

Brad is an intelligent player with good organisation skills and a kicking game to match. He knows our systems and structures so it’s great to have had him back with us and ready to play again.”

CanesTV also caught up Brad to talk about his return to The Alex, who said:

“I’m made up to be back with the Hurricanes family as I really enjoyed my time here last year. It’s been a tough 12 months but I’m feeling fitter and stronger than ever and cannot wait to rip in and finish the season strong with the lads.”

Brad goes straight into contention for Mark Dunning’s 21-man squad to take on Rochdale Hornets at The Alexander Stadium on Sunday. Fans can still save money compared to match-day prices by buying tickets in advance HERE.
