BEATTIE JOINS THE STORM
Young back rower joins the Canes following successful trial
We are pleased to confirm the signing of young prospect Louis Beattie for the 2025 season.
Louis, 18, joined the Hurricanes on trial during pre-season following plying his trade at West Bowling ARLFC. His subsequent signing clearly indicates he has impressed both Head Coach Mark Dunning and familiar Assistant Coach Leigh Beattie in the build-up to the 2025 Betfred League One Season.
Fans may have worked out this announcement ahead of time from our 21-man squad announcement from Sunday (where Tom Wilkinson’s brother, Eligh, was noted as a trialist for the game). However, Beattie - who can play at loose forward and in the back row - played his first professional game when he came on as an interchange for a short spell during the Canes 34-30 away victory at Batley at the start of January. Louis will no doubt want to add to that experience this year as he looks to keep on developing at such an early stage of his career.
Head Coach Mark Dunning had this to say on signing Louis:
“We’re delighted to welcome Louis in to the group on a permanent basis.
He’s worked his socks off in pre-season and I’m excited to see where his development can take him in a Canes shirt.”
