BARCOE SIGNS FOR 2025

Danny Barcoe extends his contract with the Hurricanes for the 2025 season

We are very pleased to announce that hooker Danny Barcoe has signed a contract extension that will keep him with the Canes until the end of the 2025 season!

Danny first joined the club shortly in the dying embers of the 2023 season and made an immediate impact, scoring on his debut as the Hurricanes earned a historic 41-10 win over Doncaster at The Eco-Power Stadium. After also playing in the last three games of that season – which included 38-18 and 18-10 away wins over London Skolars and Oldham respectively – the club decided to exercise their option to retain Danny for the 2024 season.

Taking the #9 shirt this year, Barcoe has played in all but one game for the club this season and his prolific attacking drive from dummy-half has continued, netting him six tries across 17 games so far. We have no doubt Danny will want to continue this form for the final five games of the regular season and – hopefully – the playoffs, on the back of signing this new deal.

Barcoe had this to say on re-signing with the club:

I was very happy when Mark offered me a contract for 2025 - I have loved this year with the club! Mark and Lee have done so much for us all and still have more to give us. This has been our first year as a pack and whilst we have come a long way we have still got more to give. I haven’t enjoyed being part of a semi-pro club as much as I have here, and that’s down to how good all the coaching staff, the fans and the team have been! Assuming we don't get promoted this year, the goal for 2025 is for us to be up there with the best teams in League One and get that promotion we deserve as a club! I can't wait for the journey to continue.

Head Coach Mark Dunning on re-signing Barcoe:

"We are delighted to fend off interest from both League One and Championship clubs to secure Danny for a further year. Danny’s growth and development since he joined us is testament to his commitment to his craft; he’s a real dedicated player who is often the first on the training field and the last one off it. We look forward to working with him going forward and continuing to see him grow and develop as a major part of our spine."

Danny may be our first announcement, but he certainly isn’t the last. Keep your eyes peeled for more retention announcements in the coming weeks!
